Subject: we've got to get off the sidelines

Hi John – it's Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors and I need your help today.

You've already heard from my coach and friend, Steve Kerr, and I’m joining him on Team Brady to ask for your help hitting their $200,000 match goal to fund their movement to end gun violence. Can we count on you to donate and have your gift 500% MATCHED today?

I’m following Coach’s leadership on this issue – the way he’s approached it since day one – and using my voice to urge action rather than stay on the sidelines. Because ending gun violence is essential to all of our needs and creating a better future for the next generation. And I believe that we have the power to change the quality of life for kids and families across the nation with our collective action.

The energy in the gun violence prevention movement is totally different than it was 10 years ago – and that didn’t happen by accident, John. It happened because Brady has set a strategy, has pushed for proven policy and legal solutions, and has engaged grassroots activists who are about that life on a daily basis.

My wife, Ayesha, and I work to improve the lives of kids in Oakland, and addressing gun violence, particularly as it affects Black and brown kids, is an essential part of that. Brady is unique in their approach to addressing the root causes of gun violence – like addressing the 5% of gun dealers who supply 90% of crime guns. So many of these dealers are in inner cities where they feast on the structural and generational traumas of the communities.

Taking on this epidemic can feel impossible, but the reality is that this is a solvable issue – one that Brady has been at the forefront of addressing for decades. Brady knows the solutions that can save lives, but they won’t be able to do the work without all of us in this fight with them. So I’m asking you to join me, Coach Kerr, and Brady in this fight today:

So please, make a donation before this match expires on December 31, to help Brady hit their year end goal and continue making lifesaving progress families need. Gun violence is a solvable issue — but only if we all do our part to make those solutions a reality.

The fight for a world without gun violence is a long one, so we have to be present and give energy where we can. This is that moment.

Thank you for taking action today, John.

With gratitude,
Stephen Curry
