Hey folks – Jason here. I’m doing something a little different today. I want to give Dr. Jill Stein an opportunity to introduce herself to you. Jill has become a good friend and is a passionate advocate for our campaign here in WA-02. She’s also the only candidate I trust to lead the political transformation we urgently need – and she’s my choice for president in 2024. Please take a moment to learn about Jill’s story, and if you are moved to do so, contribute to her campaign. Thank you! - Jason

Dear friends,

I greatly appreciate this opportunity from Jason, my friend and fellow fighter for people, planet, and peace, to let you know why I’m running, and why this race is such a perfect storm for the change we so urgently need.

All my life I’ve worked to help make people and our planet healthy and whole. I started as a medical doctor, but soon realized we were just sending people back into a system that’s making us sick. My journey into advocacy began in the 1990s with speaking out against toxic pollution that’s harming young children, and from there I took on fights against mercury, pesticides, toxic waste incinerators, coal plants, and other forms of environmental racism and injustice.

Seeing money in politics as the root of so many evils, I joined a coalition to pass a Massachusetts “clean elections” ballot initiative for publicly-financed elections, which we won by a 2-1 landslide. That is until the Democratic-controlled legislature repealed it on a voice vote, clarifying the true priorities of the party.

When the Greens recruited me to run for governor in 2002, we fought our way into a televised debate where I gave voice to our agenda for health care as a human right, Green jobs, living wages, free higher education, cutting the military budget and putting our resources into true security here at home, and more. While this went over like a lead balloon with the elites in the TV studio, when we emerged from the studio, I was mobbed by reporters, who told me I was beating Romney and the rest in the instant online viewer poll.

That’s when it hit me: Our vision isn’t “fringe” or “unrealistic”, as we’re always told. In fact the people’s agenda is a winning proposition - if only the majority of voters struggling from paycheck to paycheck get to hear it.

Fast forward to today, and that’s why I’m running - to put a pro-worker, anti-war, climate action choice into the election discourse and on the ballot for voters across the nation.

The good news is that we already have 75% of the ballot access work behind us. This puts us far ahead of the other people-powered campaigns, which have barely gotten started.

And we’ve never been in a better moment to challenge empire and oligarchy, with child poverty doubling, homelessness at a record high, 44 million locked in student debt, 100 million in medical debt, and half of youth hopeless for the future – while both parties squander half of the Congressional budget on the endless war machine fueling death and destruction across the planet.

And with both parties refusing to call for a cease fire and negotiations in Gaza, while 68% of US voters are demanding it, there is a growing hunger for a campaign like ours committed to a foreign policy based on human rights, international law and diplomacy.

In fact we have a perfect storm for deep change.

If you believe, as I do, that change is not only possible – it is imperative for the survival of humanity and the planet – then I ask you to join us now with a contribution to our campaign.

Together we can provide the people-powered movement we need to take back the promise of democracy, and start building an America and a world that works for all of us.

Thank you for everything you do for people, planet and peace.

Jill Stein
