We are looking for reliable and hardworking Cooks, to work at The Oaks Residential Home in St. Ann?s.

Candidates will be engaged on a casual basis and given a full induction before being offered shifts. Shifts are paid at ?9.94/hour plus Casual Holiday Enhancement.

Job Role

The Oaks is a modern residential unit for elderly citizens with a range of needs, including dementia. Citizens may be either short term or longer term residents, depending on their identified needs and circumstances.

The successful candidate will provide a flexible, culturally appropriate catering service to meet the needs of both internal and external Citizens, staff and visitors, and lead the kitchen throughout the day (including service times)

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of catering staff and the provision of well presented nutritious meals, that meet any specific dietary or cultural requirements.

This role includes menu planning, food ordering and managing the food budget, under the supervision of the Catering Manager.

Essential Requirements

1. Able to provide economical, nutritious, well-presented meals of good quality that meet the nutritional needs of service users, within the resources available. Able to cater for special diets relating to culture, health or religion.

2. Able to manage the food budget and keep records for food budgeting, stock control and cash handling.

3. Awareness of the responsibilities under the Food Safety Act and associated legislation relating to food, kitchen and personal hygiene.

4. Able to delegate work to and supervise catering staff.
