Dear John,

We are so disappointed at the very long postponement of the Mayoral and Assembly elections and had hoped we might be able to continue our work in some way, but all has had to be put on hold for the time being. (Many of our members have offered assistance with shopping - please do get in touch if you'd like to take this up.)

And it was going so well, with the Green Party moving up in the polls, and such a shame after a great action day with Siân Berry, our Mayoral candidate, organised by Zack Polanski (WCL’s constituency candidate and number 3 on the party's Assembly list) with Piera Mascoli, Alex Clarke and Tom Coxon, which had got us all into full swing for the campaign. There was a terrific turn-out at The Elgin, where we gathered for a picture after Siân took questions from the group which then went on to deliver leaflets, covering a large stretch from Holland Park Avenue almost to Ladbroke Grove tube station.

WCL had also planned an event for next week to discuss Hammersmith Bridge which will have been closed to vehicles for a year on April 10th. While TFL and Hammersmith and Fulham Council are keen to reopen the bridge to vehicles after repairs, many residents are asking that the bridge should remain car-free permanently. At the moment, only cyclists and pedestrians have access and local Greens are broadly supportive of keeping it that way. TFL are holding a consultation: “We remain extremely keen to hear your views on plans for a temporary bridge. Fill out our feedback form and visit our Hammersmith Bridge page to view the proposals.”
