Hi, John, I’m Kathianne, Brian’s wife, and Abeni’s mama (and mama to our dogs, Disco and Moe, of course!). I'm reaching out to ask you to chip in $5 to Brian's campaign ahead of his important FEC end-of-year fundraising deadline at midnight. But first, I want you to know why your support is so crucial.

Brian and I have been together since July 4th, 2001. Since the beginning, we’ve been two very different people.

Brian is the oldest of two children; I’m the youngest of six. Brian grew up in a military family that moved around; I lived in the same house until I left for college. I’m an open book; Brian’s an intensely private person.

The course of our entire lives changed on Thursday, July 7th, 2016, when Brian picked up a trauma surgeon shift at Parkland Hospital. That night, he was tasked with caring for seven police officers who were gunned down at a Black Lives Matter march and sadly had to tell many of their families that he was unable to save them.

While he’s declined media interviews in the past, the hospital had scheduled a press conference the next day. He had an opportunity to use his voice as a Black doctor to speak about race, gun violence, and the pain the Dallas community was feeling.

Something changed in him that night. My private, introverted husband took a chance at vulnerability. Without seeking it, he was given an incredible platform and a chance to give a voice to the voiceless.

We both knew he couldn’t stop there.

Throughout his entire life, Brian has dedicated himself to service. First in service to our nation in the Air Force, then in the trauma bay (When we met as he was starting his career, he was pulling 120+ hours a week!). Now, he’s running to serve TX-32 in Congress.

I’m so proud of my husband for choosing to Be the Change, and I’m so grateful that he has you by his side on this campaign. As we wrap up 2023 and all the amazing things this year has brought us, I hope you’ll help us continue building momentum with a donation toward Brian’s $100,000 end-of-year FEC fundraising goal. Any amount will make a big difference for Brian’s campaign!

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Thank you for your support of my husband and, by extension, our family. Having you on our team means the world.

Kathianne
