Hi — A recent study from Mark van Orden at the University of California found that the easier it is for utility companies to spend money in politics, the more likely it is that policymakers will favor utilities over the everyday people who pay power bills.
Pair that research with the clear evidence we've seen that many utility companies take money from their customers to fund anti-climate lobbying, and you'll see why we're making it a priority to help pass laws next year that rein in the political power of utility companies.
This is going to be the next critical frontier of our utility accountability work, but we have not yet met our 2023 fundraising goals for this important campaign!

We're confident that together we can get dirty utilities out of climate policy once and for all.
After all, we have a great track record of crafting and winning meaningful climate action—the kind that cuts tons of climate pollution, cleans up our air, and creates good-paying jobs. But bad actor utilities are taking notice and using every tool they have to slow us down. We can't let them.
We have the expertise and the know-how to go up against some of the worst actors in the power sector, but we still need the funds by midnight tonight to put these tactics into action. |
We're eager to continue building a thriving, just, and inclusive clean energy future next year. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Team Evergreen |
