My sincere appreciation to everyone who responded about the death threats we’ve been receiving here at Public Citizen headquarters.
My earlier note is copied below in case you missed it.

******
We get so much hate mail at Public Citizen.
It seems to be getting worse — perhaps not surprisingly given the increasingly violent rhetoric coming from Donald Trump and his adherents.
Here are just a few examples:
- “I will kill you without remorse.”
- “We will eradicate scum like Public Citizen.”
- “I would rip you apart limb from limb if given the chance.”
- “You should die slowly, in horrible pain.”
- “We hope and pray you die.”
- “You all deserve a bullet.”
- “The real patriots will set things straight soon.”
- “I hope Trump ends you all — in the literal sense of the word.”
- “What’s really sad is that no one has killed the twisted morons at Public Citizen.”
- “The FBI should lock you up and anyone who supports you.”
- “Get the f*** out of my country.”
- “Your day is coming, sooner than you think.”
That’s all in addition to anti-Semitic remarks directed at me personally, like “Should have guessed you’re a f---ing Jew.”
While I certainly wish we didn’t have to face comments — and the threats implicit in them — like these, I do think it’s important to take note of the vitriol directed at the work you and Public Citizen are doing together.
Of course, we have no intention whatsoever of backing down.
And I’m hoping you can donate today to give us the financial strength we need to continue standing up to plutocracy and fascism.
A member of Public Citizen’s board will match anything you contribute right now dollar-for-dollar.
DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR MATCH — DONATE NOW
Or sign up as a Monthly Donor today and your contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar each and every month for a full year!
Thank you for standing with us.
In unity,
- Robert Weissman, President of Public Citizen
P.S. If donating today is not a good fit, I understand. I hope you’ll accept that I need to ask now and again — especially at this time of year — so that we have the resources to carry out all the essential work you and Public Citizen are doing together.
