Dear Friend,

2023 was a very exciting year for Team Gounardes! We dove into our new district headfirst and began to tackle the many challenges it faces. My team and I work day in and day out to better the lives of our neighbors and achieve great results.

This year my team got to work representing all the neighborhoods of the 26th Senate District. From the Verrazzano Bridge to the Manhattan Bridge - and everywhere in between - we helped thousands of our neighbors with their concerns and issues.

My fifth legislative session brought some big wins for our district as well as the entire state. We expanded the Empire State Child Tax Credit to include 800,000 more children who were previously ineligible and provided pay protections for 2.2 million freelance workers across the state. I continued my work alongside labor unions to tackle hospital pricing transparency and passed legislation to finally get the Weight In Motion (WIM) technology working on the BQE triple cantilever. From Brooklyn to Buffalo, I’m proud that this session delivered results.

But the work is never over. There are many difficulties we are facing, and I’m looking forward to work for the communities I represent. Join me to ring in 2024 and discuss my plans for the new legislative session at Someday Bar in Brooklyn!
