Like many Michiganders, football is on my mind with our Wolverines going head-to-head against Alabama in the Rose Bowl tomorrow. But before we can relax and gather around the TV to cheer them on, tonight my campaign is facing our final FEC fundraising deadline of the election year.

So today, I’m invading your inbox this morning with my own Hail Mary: Can you please make a contribution to my Senate campaign before our FEC fundraising deadline ends tonight at midnight? If you have been thinking about donating to our campaign, now would be the time.

I’d really love it if I could earn your support today. Because tonight at the stroke of midnight, this public reporting period is over. We need as much momentum as possible to show that we are a formidable opponent to the eventual GOP nominee. And with four serious Republican contenders getting into the race over the past few months, this public fundraising report will be looked through with a fine tooth comb to see how we stack up.

The polls are showing that this Senate race in Michigan is a dead heat with a lot of voters still undecided. That’s who we need to get to. If we fall short of our goal before our FEC deadline ends, it delays us talking to crucial voters early – especially in places outside of my current congressional district.

I need to introduce myself to the 10 million people in Michigan, and an early introduction could be the difference between winning or losing next year.
