Serving as a member of Congress, getting to represent my community, and fight for working people across Minnesota and the entire country is one of the joys of my life.

It's an honor and a privilege, and one that I don't take for granted.

But if you asked me what the worst part of this job is, it is, without a doubt, the obscene amount of money it costs to run a successful campaign.

That's especially true when the right wing and their super PACs target a campaign as directly as they do ours, spending unlimited sums of dark money on everything from bigoted ads to propping up my opponents to try and defeat us.

Now, as you probably know, we don't fund our campaign the way a lot of my colleagues do.

I don't take money from corporate PACs, or Wall Street billionaires, or fossil fuel industry lobbyists. From the very beginning, we've funded this thing a different way — together.

I believe in grassroots, people-powered movements. I believe that so long as we're in it together, lots and lots of people chipping in what they can is more powerful than anything the super PACs can throw at us.

But running a campaign that way means that from time to time, I need to lean on people like you for support.

And with just over 12 hours to go until our FINAL official FEC fundraising deadline of the year, our job today is to raise as many grassroots contributions as we possibly can.

So please. I'm asking:

Can you make your first online contribution — of $3 or anything you can — to our re-election campaign for Congress before tonight's midnight deadline? This campaign is funded by people like you chipping in what they can, and every dollar makes a huge difference.
