Dear John,
Time is running out for 2023 tax-deductible donations. But when the clock is ticking, the PAWS Chicago community always comes through—like you did for a three-month-old kitten called Onyx.
When we first met Onyx at Chicago Animal Care and Control, the city pound, he was struggling. He had a fever and severe ulcers on all four paws as well as inside his mouth. His little nose was even bleeding.
Diagnosed with calicivirus, a contagious, hard-to-treat virus that causes respiratory infections, Onyx needed the kind of help that can only be found at our Medical Center.
Rushed to PAWS, Onyx was quarantined in an isolation suite and treated with pain meds, antibiotics, and fluids. Now stable and on the mend, the next step for this furry fighter is a foster home where he can recover.
