A PERSONAL NOTE
Good morning on the LAST day of 2023! I hope the holiday season has treated you well!
My eldest daughter got a great job in British Columbia at a resort. She's been given free rent for three months via a room there, but no dogs are allowed. So let me introduce my granddog, Rhea, the sweetest girl, who will be visiting GrandDaisy while her mama gets settled.
My cat was initially unimpressed but is now quite curious about the
hairy interloper. Rhea is not a fan of my cat, however, so that's been exciting. It hasn't been too bad except when the cat gets too curious and invades the dog's space. Then there's a bit of snarling and lunging and fleeing for one's life. I'm doing my best to keep the cat away from the dog, but anyone who has ever had a cat probably knows that is an exercise in futility. If you don't want them to go somewhere, they especially want to be in that place.
I don't know if you're the same, but I have always felt a sense of excitement and anticipation when the calendar turns.
I don't mean that I go drink my face off or attend big parties. In fact, it's just the opposite. I like to plan, organize, and assess.
What worked over the last year? What didn't? What do I want to do better in the year ahead? It's not so much about making resolutions as it is taking stock. I think it's a fantastic time for self-assessment and improvement.
One place I'm really working on things is my finances. I was reviewing articles on my other website, The Frugalite, and thought that a lot of you might have the same focus. So, over the last week, I put together a PDF book with more than 150 articles from the past year on frugality, thrifty food, and living well on a small budget. I think you'll absolutely love it, and you can name your own price this weekend. (You can get it as low as $2 if times are tight, or you can pay more to help out the websites if things are better.) That way it's affordable for everyone who might need a helping hand getting their financial situation in better shape. I'd really appreciate your support if you're in a position to give it! 🙂
I'm also working on organizing my tiny apartment. I went through my prepper medical supplies and devices yesterday, and today, I'm going through the food supply. I think we're looking at a wildly eventful 2024, and I want to make sure I don't have any big gaps.
Speaking of 2024, I recorded a show with Brian Duff, Chris Richards, and Dale Goodwin for the Mind4Survival YouTube channel, where we made predictions for every month of the year. It was such a fun show, and it will be airing on Jan 4. I'll be sure to post it on The OP. There was some serious stuff and some silly stuff, and I think you'll enjoy it.
I'm off to count cans and write lists. I hope that you have a very happy New Year, filled with love, peace, and prosperity. Thanks for being someone I can count on as part of The OP family.
