The Hechinger Report
Dear Reader,

For the past few weeks, we’ve asked for your financial support and more than 550 of you responded generously with a donation.

Well, I'm pleased to say those gifts added up: Not only did we meet our $60,000 goal, we knocked it out of the park and RAISED $110,000!

The goal we chose was not at random. It’s what we need to stay on track for this budget year and to keep our nonprofit newsroom going strong into 2024 and beyond. So, here, on the last day of the year, we want to explain how this campaign fits into our fundraising blueprint.

Our work is funded by four primary sources:
* Foundations — 90%
* Individuals — 5%
* Endowment income — 3%
* Newsletter sponsorships and website ads — 2%

Your giving demonstrates that the work we’re doing is valued by the people we do it for; in fact, it's the engine that drives all other revenue. (Even our foundation funders are keen to know how much reader support we receive—it demonstrates to them that we're a worthwhile investment!)

Thank you for believing in the power of journalism. Your support of The Hechinger Report sustains us; it provides our journalists with the resources they need to report and to share powerful stories, helping the public understand why education issues matter to our lives and to our society.
