California YIMBY has been an incredible presence in Sacramento. Your activism has changed everything about housing policy in our state, and helped pass legislation that would never have even been considered in the Capitol just a few years ago.

But there is more work to be done. I'm writing this message to ask you to help build the YIMBY movement by supporting housing champions who are running for the state legislature in 2024.

The 2024 primary election is just over two months away. Voters will receive their ballots in just over one month. We need to support candidates who will help build on our pro-housing momentum in the legislature.

You can help with a donation to the California YIMBY Victory Fund: a political action committee that supports pro-housing candidates for elected office, and pro-housing ballot initiatives in California. Your contribution will help send new housing leaders to the Capitol –- leaders who I can work with to help get more housing built across our state.

Tens of thousands of children in California wake up every morning homeless. Many working and middle class Californians have been pushed out of our coastal communities, while others barely hang on if they're not wealthy enough to afford the skyrocketing cost of housing.

The YIMBY movement took these realities and turned them into political action – and successful legislation. With your help we built a coalition of housing advocates, environmentalists, labor unions, faith leaders, students, and seniors to pass priority bills such as SB 423.

SB 423 won the votes of 75% of legislators on both the Senate and the Assembly floor. That's a testament to the work we've done together to tackle the housing shortage.

But we also know that every two years, many of those who voted “yes” on our bills are either termed out, or move on to a different elected office. We need to make sure they’re succeeded by housing champions who will join our coalition to pass the next set of bold, ambitious legislation to make it easier to afford living in the Golden State.
