President Joe Biden's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially acknowledged the development of a program designed to furnish photo identification cards to border crossers and illegal aliens released into the United States.
Over the past year, Breitbart News has consistently reported on DHS's plans to initiate a pilot program, issuing photo ID cards akin to driver's licenses to individuals released into the interior of the United States from the southern border.
Recent statements from DHS officials seem to affirm their intention to implement the issuance of photo IDs to border crossers and illegal aliens.
The confirmation was found within the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) annual report, where officials detailed their plan to commence the distribution of photo ID cards to these individuals during this fiscal year.
The ICE report outlined, "[The Office of Immigration Program Evaluation] is leading the ICE Secure Docket Card (SDC) project, which offers a uniform, durable card provided to noncitizens upon release, and facilitates reliable access to commonly lost or damaged immigration-related paperwork."
Moreover, the report emphasized the integration of the SDC with the Unified Immigration Portal used by ICE and Customs and Border Protection officers and agents in the field. This integration is expected to grant noncitizens access to frequently used documents and services. The report highlighted the anticipated benefits, including easing the workload for ICE personnel and reducing the burden on noncitizens when interacting with ICE.
John Fabbricatore, a former ICE official and advisory board member at the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE), previously informed Breitbart News in September that the Biden administration's ultimate objective is to minimize face-to-face contact between illegal aliens and DHS.
Describing it as a "normalization of illegal immigration," Fabbricatore emphasized the shift in approach.
Biden's Catch and Release policy at the United States-Mexico border continues to release millions of border crossers and illegal aliens into American communities annually.
Privately disclosed information from DHS officials to Congress indicates that approximately 5,000 border crossers and illegal aliens are released into the U.S. interior daily under Biden's policies. Extrapolating from this data, it suggests that around 150,000 individuals are released monthly and approximately two million annually into American communities.
