Student loan cancellation has to be part of the next emergency funding package.
For folks already facing crushing student loan debt, COVID-19 is not only a public health crisis — it’s an economic crisis. For too many Americans, student loan debt has already caused them to delay their dreams; now, many of those people are facing lost wages and financial hardship brought about by this pandemic.
That’s why I’m introducing a bill calling for the cancellation of student loan payments during this crisis.
Moments like this define us as a nation. We need to respond with compassion and political courage, that’s how we get through this.
