Dear John,
Let me begin by wishing you a very happy New Year — including a safe and joyful (or quiet, if that's your style) celebration — along with at least a sprinkling of good old-fashioned New Year's resolutions!
One of my resolutions is to stay in closer touch with you! Emails like this are an important way to let you know how much I appreciate your allegiance and continued support during my service as Oregon's Attorney General. As I enter my 12th and final year in this role, I want to be sure you know what an incredible honor it continues to be to serve you as the "People's Lawyer!"
We've done a lot — and have so much more to do. I’m reaching out today before the critical end of month deadline tomorrow at midnight to ask for your help to keep up the fight for our Democratic values. We need to raise $5,500 to stay on track. Can you help, John? [[link removed]]

During my tenure I’ve: championed marriage equality; fought back against the cruel and harmful policies of the Trump Era (which hopefully is over for good!); fiercely supported access to abortion care; and negotiated well over a billion dollars in settlements for Oregon from powerful corporations — some responsible for degrading our environment and others for fueling the opioid epidemic.
My progressive and inclusive approach to proposing and advocating policy reforms has led to:
1.
The
most
effective
hate
crime
hotline
in
the
country.
2.
A
strong
new
law
to
protect
our
data
privacy.
3.
The
abolition
of
unserialized
and
undetectable"
ghost
guns”
—
after
four
tries,
no
less!
4.
Protections
for
students
when
their
educational
debt
comes
due!
And
these
are
just
highlights.
So, what's in store for '24? I have an important and full agenda for the year ahead that includes protecting and preserving democracy. Will you make a contribution right now towards our end of year goal to make sure I can keep up this fight? [[link removed]]

We must prioritize convenient and fair ballot access and the other basics that should fit neatly into every voter's democracy "toolkit." Yes, I am talking about keeping Donald Trump from having another presidential term, but that's only the half of it. We also need to get Democrats elected, up and down the ballot, at every level of government.
With decades of success as a "vote by mail" state, Oregon can be a real role model nationally for effective democracy. But, it will take leadership and commitment – and all of us, working together to protect the values that define our nation.
Again, I could not do any of this without you, my friends and supporters. And, as you can see, I'm not slowing down! Please consider making a donation towards our end of year goal before the deadline tomorrow at midnight. This is the time when your support really matters.
