We must stop extremists from taking over the Board of Education
DON MAYHEW
Member, Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education
Dear Friends,
As a longtime member of the Lincoln School Board, I’ve had a front row seat to many of the unfair attacks on public education. School board meetings have become a political battleground where extremists funded by national anti-public school groups have been trying to negatively change how our children are educated.
I am writing to you to announce my support for a State Board candidate who supports teachers and public education. Kristin Christensen is a current public school teacher who serves in the classroom and sees firsthand the needs of our schools, staff, students, and families. I hope you will join me in supporting her by making a donation today. ([link removed])
Her opponent is part of a group that has been attacking Lincoln Public Schools for over two years. They have unfairly criticized our efforts to increase equity and have falsely accused us of things like ordering teachers to give pornography to children. In addition to verbal assaults during school board meetings, these same individuals publicly attack and harass our classroom teachers on social media, spreading a false narrative about what takes place in our classrooms. To me it's very simple: people who don't support public education shouldn't be in charge of making the rules for our public schools.
Please join me in supporting Kristin’s campaign. As a state board member, she will focus on improving educational outcomes instead of wasting time banning books.
I have donated to her campaign and I encourage you to do the same here. ([link removed])
Thank you for helping Kristin defend our public schools!
