We’ve never seen a threat like what we’re facing today.
friend,
The SPLC has been fighting racism, hate and extremism for over half a century now, but we’ve never seen a threat like what we’re facing today.
Don’t get us wrong, the ugliness and hatred are the same, but the far-right extremist movement that embodies them has been morphing into something different … something more powerful, more dangerous and more violent. The SPLC was built for this moment, and our 2024 Action Plan is designed to meet this evolving threat.
Make your year-end gift now to ensure we have the necessary resources to make our 2024 Action Plan a reality. And, with our dollar-for-dollar match through Dec. 31, your gift will go twice as far.

- Attacks on democracy are intensifying: Far-right legislators in states across the Deep South and beyond are attacking the basic mechanics of democracy, especially the right to vote.
- Political violence is growing more likely: High-ranking members of Congress, for example, are defending the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and other violent extremists behind the insurrection as “patriots” and “political prisoners.”
- Antisemitism is increasing: The “great replacement” narrative — with Jews often assigned the role of evil puppet-masters — has become thoroughly mainstream on the political right over the past few years, with polls showing that nearly one-half of Republican voters now accept it as reality.
- Hate crimes hit an all-time high: The most recent annual FBI report on hate crimes showed that they surged nearly 25 percent in just one year, reaching the highest level ever recorded.
- The far-right is targeting the LGBTQ community: The Proud Boys and other extremist groups violently target events featuring LGBTQ individuals, especially drag shows. One establishment was firebombed after hosting a drag performance, a shot was fired through the window of a brewery hosting a drag queen story hour, a library hosting a children’s event was stormed by Proud Boys and another was interrupted by a Proud Boy carrying a gun.
- Attempts to silence Black voices are even more outrageous: Earlier this year, when two Black Tennessee state legislators participated in a gun violence protest at the Capitol Building, their white colleagues decided to expel them, even though a white legislator who also participated in the demonstration was allowed to keep her seat.
Whatever you’re able to give today will be immediately doubled with the matching funds and help make sure the SPLC has the resources urgently needed for our 2024 Action Plan for Justice and Equity:
- Defending Voting Rights and Supporting Democracy
- Fighting Hate and Extremism
- Keeping Hate from Poisoning the Next Generation
- Ending the Criminalization of Poverty and Fighting for Economic Justice
