I've worked at Make-A-Wish® for 23 years, and it’s all because of kids like Brielle.

Brielle is an 11-year-old who loves lights, parades and, most of all, Christmas. But at a young age, she was diagnosed with a nervous system disorder that has impacted her mobility and speech. Brielle has faced many struggles, including long hospital stays and difficult treatments.

Our team was determined to give Brielle the best day ever. She is non-verbal due to her condition, so her family filled us in on her absolute love of the Christmas season. Generous donors like you stepped up to fund her wish, and we got to work on her once-in-a-lifetime wish experience: a holiday winter wonderland extravaganza.

Granting Brielle’s wish meant the world to her, her family and her community. Each time we had tried in the past to grant her wish, she was too unwell to participate in the wish experience. Finally, Brielle was given a day just for her and her community to celebrate together and not worry about her condition.

When a wish comes true for a child like Brielle, it can provide hope in their darkest moments. But for every wish we grant, two more kids are waiting – and it breaks my heart to think of them having to wait even longer if we don’t reach our goal to fund 100 more wishes in 2024.
