John,
Our likely opponent for Attorney General is Rep. Dan Bishop.
There are plenty of differences between us, but there’s a big one that most people won’t see:
How our campaigns are funded.
When he started his campaign, he raised almost $1m in 10 days. That’s a very big number.
How’d he do it? Well, his average contribution was over $2,000.
Then there’s our campaign. We’re not quite done with the quarter yet (it ends at midnight on December 31st), but so far our average online contribution is just $33.
Those are two very different campaigns, and the difference is you.
I’m really proud of how we’re funding this race because it’s an approach that’s based on earning the support of thousands and thousands of regular people - not just a small handful.
If you’ve been waiting to give, now would be the time. We want to show how broad the support for this campaign is, and chipping in a few bucks is a very clear way to help us do that.
Next time you hear from me it’ll be a new year and I’ll be back to updating you about what’s going on in Congress.
For now, I hope you’ll join us in showing the state that a people-powered approach to campaigning really can work by making a contribution before our end-of-year deadline. [[link removed]]
