Adrian Fontes here, the Arizona Secretary of State. I have a big end-of-year fundraising deadline coming up on December 31, so after work, I’ve been doing the classic dial-for-dollars thing.
The catch is, I can’t call everyone in the next few days, so I’m hoping you’ll forgive me for reaching out via email this time instead. But if we were on the phone right now, here’s how our conversation may go:
There are lots of Democrats asking me for a donation right now.
Why should I donate to your campaign specifically?
Last year I defeated a Trump-endorsed QAnon conspiracy theorist and January 6 attendee, and I need your help to be ready to defend this seat.
Oh, well good job.
But that crazy guy wouldn’t have actually won right?
It’s disturbing to think about, but he could have. MAGA extremists poured money into his campaign — he spent over $2 million against me and claimed not only that the 2020 election was rigged but that *I* had been rigging elections.
…were you rigging elections?
NO! Come on, you know me better than that. I’ve actually upgraded our state’s election security so we can prevent cyberattacks. I’ve also been working to expand secure mail-in-voting options so everyone can participate in our elections, and am aggressively fighting disinformation that’s hurting voter’s confidence in our Democracy.
Alright, I believe you. And you need the donation soon?
If you can afford to chip in a grassroots donation today, I’d really appreciate it. My team says I need to raise $2,600 more before December 31 to hit our end-of-year goal.
Alright, it’s my turn to ask you a question — can I count on you to chip in a grassroots donation of $10 or more, split between my campaign and the DLGA, before December 31 to help me hit this end-of-year goal and keep defending our Democracy from the MAGA conspiracy theorists trying to undermine it?
If you have an ActBlue account, your donation will automatically be split between Adrian Fontes and the DLGA |
Thanks for chatting with me! Whether or not you can donate today, I appreciate you taking the time.
Sincerely,
Adrian
