We made it to the end of 2023!
Thank you for joining us during this landmark year - our 20th anniversary as an organization.
Working together as a Coalition we achieved so much in the last 12 months:
Â
-
Dedicated North Devon as the first World Surfing Reserve in the UK, safeguarding over 8 diverse surf breaks and 30 km of coastline.
-
Supported the declaration of a 15-hectare coastal park in Ericeira, Portugal, including bluff restoration around Ribeira d’Ilhas
-
Stewarded new water quality and watershed restoration projects at Guarda do EmbaĂş, Brazil and Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica.Â
-
Piloted a new model of climate insurance in Las Flores, El Salvador for the surf breaks, mangroves and nearby communities.
-
Advocated for the legendary Puerto Escondido, supporting local efforts with a global campaign to protect sand flow and water quality.
-
Defended Punta Conejo in Oaxaca, building a plan for a protected area, including 1000 hectares of mangroves, that will oppose an industrial port expansion.
Â
Thanks to the support of the Coalition, these wins and strides for our global coastlines were possible.
As we close out our 20th anniversary, we’re committing to new milestones which will ultimately protect over 300 waves in the next three years.
Onwards! Thank you for your continued support and happy holidays!
With respect,Â
Nik Strong-Cvetich
