Friends,

I wanted to update you on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that is impacting the US and Connecticut.

I voted for a $8.3 billion emergency funding bill that was signed into law. This will help Connecticut and other states combat the virus. Additionally, last week I voted on a bipartisan package that ensures all Coronavirus tests are free, provides 12 weeks of paid leave, and strengthens food security programs.

I am pleased Congress has taken these important steps to address this pandemic. I will continue to work on a bipartisan basis to ensure we are doing everything necessary on the federal level to combat the spread of the Coronavirus and to help all those impacted.

Coronavirus is spread from person to person contact, respiratory droplets, and contaminated objects and surfaces. In Connecticut and at home, we can all take steps to protect ourselves and others from the Coronavirus. To do this, we must practice social distancing and avoid leaving our homes, unless you have to. By staying home, we can prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, and help protect our neighbors and community members who are more vulnerable.

Simply put, the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the Coronavirus. Visit the State of Connecticut's Coronavirus information page or the CDC’s website for further helpful tips and information.

We must make this a priority for Connecticut and the US as we all work together to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Regards,
