Hi Friends,
Scary Mommy Managing Editors, Maria Guido and Samantha Angoletta, here with a quick note.
Where do we start? We’re all in completely new territory and it feels like things are constantly changing. It’s overwhelming, scary, and confusing… basically we’re feeling all of the feelings right now.
One of the many things that's keeping us going though, is knowing we have a group of loyal Scary Mommies -- reading, listening, commenting, and just trying to do the best they can, too -- to feel connected.
We do not take this for granted. We’re doing our best to bring you the latest news surrounding coronavirus, but also attempting to deliver some entertainment to try to give your mind a break, too. Or you can just sit and stare at your screen for hours on end, like we’ve been doing -- unaware of what we need to do next.
For example, Maria is currently sitting at her dining room table, trying to homeschool her kids with the packets their schools sent home today, while also trying to pretend like she can focus 100% on her job and watch the news all day without bursting into tears.
Samantha is doing the same thing -- but with four kids at home, including a nursing infant and, shall we say ‘highly spirited,’ toddler. Sam’s anxiety is peaked and someone is always crying -- but there’s a lot of laughter, too.
The myriad of talented writers, editors, and all the people you never see behind the scenes are also juggling the same fears you are. It’s a worrisome time, but there’s comfort in knowing we are in this together.
We want you to know that we are with you, we are you, and all of us here at Scary Mommy love and appreciate our community so much.
XO,
M & S
