Dear John,
Earlier this month I was handed a memo summarizing the test results from our latest videos making the case for progressive policies to tackle the economy and inflation — and debunking Republican lies blaming “big government” and overpaid workers.
The results were stunning. People who saw these videos on social media increased their support for our policy agenda by 10 to 15 points!
The public opinion experts who ran these tests for us say that it’s unusual to be able to move the numbers by even 2 to 3 points. They were so shocked, they kept refreshing the data to make sure it wasn’t a fluke.
The minute I read those numbers, I knew we had to get these videos in front of as many people as possible. But we don’t have much time. Part of the reason these videos are resonating so strongly is because of timing. People are fed up with high prices, feel that the economy is awful, and are ready to hear arguments they might have disagreed with in the past.
We’re aiming to raise $100,000 by midnight on New Year’s Eve to help power Inequality Media and get these videos in front of as many people as possible. Will you make a donation today?
If there’s one thing that conservatives and progressives can agree on, it’s that we’re all fed up with high prices. Even though the rate of inflation has come down in recent months, people are still paying far more than many of us can afford for basic necessities like groceries, health care, and housing.
The outrage people are feeling is legitimate and real — and creates a golden opportunity for us to build support for policies that will actually bring down prices. But we must channel that anger into support for breaking up big corporations, taxing windfall profits, and other solutions that will actually help to bring down prices.
But we have to act now, while people are receptive to this message — and before Republicans and their lobbyist friends sell people on the lie that the solution is more tax cuts and further deregulation.
Inequality Media was founded to educate the public on key issues like these and correct misconceptions created by the corporate media. But as a grassroots-funded group, we rely on your donations to keep doing this work.
Will you make a tax-deductible year-end donation to help power Inequality Media and get these videos in front of as many people as possible?
Thank you for helping us change minds and make a difference in 2024,
Robert Reich
