Friend, this is urgent: Congress is currently considering a supplemental funding package that would trade fundamental human rights for more deadly walls, detention and wars.
This is like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Republicans in Congress are trying to implement UNPRECEDENTED changes to our immigration policy — like an asylum ban and near-impossible conditions for asylum applicants. These changes would disproportionately place Black, Brown, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ immigrants in danger.
Asylum is a human right. Republicans using migrants as a political pawn to increase funding for ICE and CBP — which already have a $25 BILLION annual budget — is inhumane. Senate Democrats MUST stand united to defeat this proposal.
It’s time for our government to invest in real solutions, not funnel more money into the deportation machine. Congress is coming back on January 9th — we need to ensure we keep up the pressure on them to reject this hateful proposal NOW.
