At the end of the day, this campaign is about defeating insurrectionist Republican Congressman Scott Perry, one of the most dangerous members of Congress. Perry is an extremist, and until very recently, the leader of the pro-MAGA House Freedom Caucus. He played a central role in Donald Trump’s plot to overturn the 2020 election, and the details of that are becoming clearer every day. It is essential that we defeat Scott Perry next year, and that means nominating a Democrat who can defeat him.

In 2022, Shamaine challenged Scott Perry (before it was such a popular thing to do). Unfortunately, National Democrats did not target PA-10 in 2022, putting our campaign at a significant fundraising disadvantage. Despite the lack of national support, Shamaine raised over $400,000 from grassroots donors, like you, and shocked everyone by capturing 46.17% of the vote.
Why was that performance so impressive? In 2018 and 2020, PA-10 was a national target, and the Democratic nominees raised and spent over $3 Million and $4 Million respectively–matching and outspending what Scott Perry spent. With one-tenth of the resources and after the district shifted 4% towards the Republicans after redistricting, Shamaine was able to capture nearly the same percentage of the vote. This means that her connections to the voters of the district are authentic and that folks know and trust her. It means she starts the race with a base of support that no other Democratic nominee before, or candidate now, has.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has already announced that PA-10 is among their top national targets in 2024. That means that next year, we will have the resources we need to defeat Perry. Shamaine is the only Democratic candidate positioned to build on her past success and finish the job.
With the help of supporters like you, we held Scott Perry’s feet to the fire for his role in the attempted insurrection, and we did it without the support of National Democrats (for a quick reminder, check out one of our 2022 campaign ads below). Because of our hard work and success in 2022, National Democrats are correcting their mistake and targeting our district. Even with their support, winning in PA-10 requires Democrats to nominate the strongest candidate. The record shows that Shamaine Daniels IS that candidate.
