John, the 2024 presidential election is 311 days away.
That may seem like ages to some. But here at Common Cause, we have a lot to accomplish in 311 days.
- We need to recruit and train thousands of Election Protection volunteers to help voters safely and securely cast their ballots…
- and we need to do the same with hundreds of Social Media Monitors to flag election disinfo when it happens, and proactively post helpful, truthful information about our elections…
- we’re also meeting with election officials around the country to advocate for positive reforms – like ensuring voters have access to drop boxes in their communities…
- all while we stay on top of all the attempts to suppress the vote across the country – like when Virginia removed thousands of eligible voters from the rolls just days before this past November’s elections.
That’s just barely scratching the surface of our to-do list before November 5, 2024 – which is why I’m already well into preparing for next year’s elections.
John, we have a Speaker of the House who was a key player in Donald Trump’s attempt to overthrow the 2020 election results. And the same man who incited a deadly insurrection when he lost in 2020 is running again. You and I need to be ready for anything this year.
Let me be clear: Our elections are safe and secure. And I’m not going to let anyone change that. But I can’t ignore the threats stacked against us either. So I’ve set a personal goal to mobilize our biggest Election Protection effort yet – even bigger than our historic mobilization in 2020.
This is going to be a resource-intensive – but utterly necessary – 11 months. And I won’t be able to pull this off without you.
