(Time left in the year
to make a needed pro-life, pro-family, and pro-freedom donation to NC
Values.)
Dear Friend,
The US Courts are likely the most
powerful and influential institutions in our country…yet their
decisions often go unnoticed and the public plays little to no role in
their function.
We need to change
that.
In the last few years, the US
Supreme Court has reconsidered what many (mostly on the political
Left) considered the “law of the land.”
The most important decision in a
generation was Dobbs v.
Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade and abolished the constitutional right to
abortion.
In the wake of Dobbs, you and I finally had the chance to fight—and fight we did—to
meaningfully limit abortion in North Carolina by prohibiting abortions
after 12 weeks of pregnancy. We’ve got a lot more work to do, but this
was the first step.
What you might not know is that in the
Dobbs decision, more than
140 Amicus Briefs were filed, which likely played a major role in the
decision.
Amicus Briefs provide data and
perspective to judges in deciding complex cases, but they also signal to the courts just how
contentious certain issues really are.
In the past decade, the US Supreme
Court has directly cited Amicus Briefs in more than
twenty percent of cases.
So why am I telling you this? It’s
simple: the Federal Courts have tremendous power and influence over
our lives, but unless we’re a party to a case before the court, we
don’t get to influence its outcome—except through Amicus
Briefs.
That’s why we’ve prioritized
drafting and filing well-reasoned and thoughtful Amicus Briefs in
nearly every case that touches on our core values of life, family, and
religious liberty. Through our sister organization the Institute
for Faith and Family, we filed an Amicus Brief in the
Dobbs case that overturned Roe v. Wade, and we’ve filed Amicus Briefs in dozens of
important cases affecting your life.
This is where you can have a real
impact on the cases that matter most.
Our sister organization’s legal experts have
filed 19 amicus briefs in federal courts in
the past two years alone, and now we’re aiming to bring even more
influence to the courts next year.
Will you make your most generous gift to the NC
Values Coalition or the Institute
for Faith and Family (IFF) (our sister 501(c)(3))
right now? Your generous, tax
deductible donation to the Institute
for Faith and Family will ensure that the voice of North
Carolina Christians is heard loud and clear in the courts next
year.
Sincerely,
Tami Fitzgerald Executive
Director, NC Values Coalition Institute for Faith and
Family
