# [#]John – In a moment, I’m going to ask you to donate a few dollars to my campaign. I know your inbox is probably inundated with similar requests this week, but I hope you’ll keep reading to understand why this Sunday’s deadline is so important.

Now, if you’ve been on our team for a while, you know that I don’t ask for donations very often. I try to provide supporters like you with substantive updates on my work in Congress and at home, to harness our collective power for the most urgent issues we face.

One of those issues is reproductive freedom – one that has been under constant attack. Anti-abortion activists waged a war in the courts for decades, culminating in the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last summer and the subsequent domino effect of dozens of states enacting increasingly harsh abortion bans.

The outlook of reproductive freedom appeared bleak – but, since the Dobbs ruling, our communities have channeled anger into action: We’ve rallied, marched, and made our voices heard.

The truth is that most Americans don’t support a total ban on abortion. Time and time again, we’ve seen that when reproductive freedom is on the ballot, voters turn out in droves to protect abortion access.

But if we’re going to restore and federally codify reproductive rights for all, our work is far from over. Just this month, despite a heartbreaking medical emergency, the Texas Supreme Court blocked a Texan woman’s abortion, leaving her no choice but to flee the state to access the life-saving care she needed. It’s stories like this which make the urgency of our fight that much clearer.

We must immediately shore up our efforts to elect pro-choice champions across the country in 2024. That’s what next year’s elections all about, and it’s why this Sunday’s FEC deadline is so important, John. Our fundraising totals will be publicly reported for everyone to see, including the three Republican opponents who have filed to challenge me. We must have a strong showing to prove that we’re ready to defend reproductive rights for all. Can I count on your contribution in this major test of our strength?
