In every single poll, Donald Trump has been far and away the leader every month, with a low of 48% in July and a high of 58% in December - before the Colorado Supreme Court decision to kick Trump off their state ballot. Each month, when something significant happened to DJT, specifically in June and August of 2023, his poll numbers spiked, mirroring national polling. The Colorado Supreme Court decision came a day after the monthly December 2023 poll had closed. So, to provide a clear picture of the impact the wretched and flawed Colorado court decision had on the POTUS Republican Primary, I ran a separate new poll to see if anything substantive was happening with all/any of the candidates listed. The results surprised me; Trump got a +8% bump and now sits at 67% - in a 6-person race. Trump, one of the six candidates in the poll, has 2/3 of the support. This is a stunningly high number. The Left, Democrats, and some Republican-lights have such vitriolic and irrational hatred for that man, commonly known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, they’ve inadvertently turned others to support Trump vs. their goal of hurting him. Donald Trump has become a political martyr, meaning the more you attack him, the stronger you make him. Indict him? He gets stronger. Judges gets mouthy about him? He gets stronger. Gag order? He gets stronger. Kick him off the ballot? He gets stronger. Do the next thing? He gets stronger. Why? BECAUSE WE AREN’T GOING TO LET ELITISTS PICK OUR NOMINEE OR OUR PRESIDENT. PERIOD. The others in the race are interesting to watch over time, but as is always the case, DJT snags the spotlight every single time. Trump will win Kansas in a landslide on March 19, 2024. And I predict he will crush it at the Iowa Caucus on January 16th and the New Hampshire Primary on January 23rd, both happening next month. The Republican National Committee then has a big decision to make at our meeting in Las Vegas on January 30 - February 2 regarding supporting Trump and focusing all efforts on supporting him going forward. I generally won't engage in Republican Primaries; however, this is a runaway train, and we are wasting precious resources, time, and money in a folly given the enduring and dominating strength Trump continues to show across America. Mark my words right here: #45 is going to be #47 this coming November. The question is, how long will the RNC continue pretending it's a race?   Bold Conservative Republican Leadership Wins The KSGOP started this year limping and stinging from repeated losses in the Kansas Governor and Kansas 3rd Congressional District races. The same unsuccessful worn out game-plan and tactics were employed and failed. Those poor decisions, not surprising anyone, led us to the same unsavory result - losses. Big and consequential losses. And those winable race failures led the Republicans of Kansas to pick a new leader and a new direction on February 11, 2023. This leadership team won election by the KSGOP State Committee on a platform of Bold Conservative Republican Leadership Wins. And we did win. Our new leadership team took the reins of the KSGOP immediately and got busy rebuilding the machine. This team has accomplished much in just over 10 months… and WINNING, the ultimate goal, was achieved in many impactful ways and specifically in the massive landslide of wins across Kansas in November. Republicans won big across the state taking 78% of all seats up for election. Yes, you read that right. 78%. That is a massive margin of victory, and I am incredibly proud of the hard work thousands of Kansans did to make those wins happen We've got to carry that momentum into the 2024 races. We need your help. Please engage with your county Republican party directly or find a Kansas Republican candidate for state representative, state senate, or U.S. Congress to help. It will take us all pulling in the same direction to get the job done. Let's roll. KSGOP “Run Right” Unveiled For all of 2024, our KSGOP theme will be “Run Right” and you will see this logo on: KSGOP events, invitations, fundraising information, campaign support, candidate, mailings, recruitment, and many other things. We have big races to win in 2024, and nothing speaks more clearly about what we must do to win: Do not walk. Run Right.   KSGOP Operations Expenses Streamlined and Lowered in 2023 One of the most important daily disciplines in running any business is managing overhead costs. After getting elected, we dug in immediately looking at the expenses associated with the monthly operations of the Kansas Republican party, and saw many cost-saving opportunities. We chose to shutter the office in Topeka, got rid of the unnecessary cable TV and data subscription plans, lowered our monthly insurance expenses and stored all of the extra furniture and odds and ends from the KSGOP office at an existing storage facility space, which was already being paid for when we took over. The bottom line: Your KSGOP leadership team responsibly and professionally slashed the total monthly operating expenses of the Kansas Republican Party from $37,300.24 in February to $3,825.57 in September. Those dollars are now Re-directed to electing Republicans vs. being wasted on unnecessary monthly overhead.   KSGOP Brings Republican Presidential Primary Back to Kansas What is a Presidential Preference Primary? A presidential preference primary takes an act by the Kansas legislature to be conducted. The enactment takes the responsibility from the two state parties (Republican and Democrat) in Kansas from conducting a caucus, and instead, having the state of Kansas conduct a primary election. It is a “preference” primary because it is an election where the vote totals are given to a political party to allocate delegates to candidates at the national convention. This is not a primary where the voters selected the party candidate. What is the History of Presidential Preference Primary in Kansas? In Kansas, it is a function of the state political parties to allocate delegates to presidential candidates at each party’s national convention to select each party’s presidential nominee. Such delegates are chosen via caucus or convention by the political parties. This year, the state legislature decided to resurrect the state-run presidential preference primary, which had only been used in Kansas in 1980 and 1992. When is the Election? The Republican and Democratic parties can have a state-run primary election on March 19, 2024. However, either party may opt out of participating in the primary by notifying the Secretary of State on or before December 1, 2023. Who is on the Ballot? Presidential candidates must file their candidacy with the Secretary of State 60 days before the election (12:00 p.m. January 19, 2024). Candidates must either pay a $10,000 filing fee or present a petition with 5,000 signatures of registered Kansas voters of the applicable political party. What Voters Can Participate? Each political party must notify the Secretary of State in writing on or before January 16, 2024, as to who may vote in the party’s primary election. This information will be updated following January 16, 2024. Where is my Polling Location? Like other elections, the county election office will determine where the voting locations are held. Advance voting by mail and advance voting in person are also an option. You will vote at your regular polling place unless you receive a notification by mail from your county election office. You may also verify your polling location on the VoterView website. IMPORTANT DATES Friday, December 1, 2023 Deadline for political parties to opt out of participating in the Presidential Preference Primary. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 Deadline for political parties to submit the party rules for delegate allocation to the Secretary of State. Tuesday, January 16, 2024 Deadline for political parties to notify the Secretary of State who is eligible to vote in each party’s Presidential Preference Primary. Friday, January 19, 2024 12:00 p.m. Deadline for candidates to file to run in the Presidential Preference Primary. Tuesday, February 20, 2024 Deadline to register to vote or update voter registration information to participate in the Presidential Preference Primary. Last day to apply for an advance voting by mail ballot. Wednesday, February 28, 2024 First day of advance voting. Advance ballots by mail are transmitted. In-person advance voting may begin. Check with your county election officer for specific times and locations. Monday, March 18, 2024 In-person advance voting ends at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024 Presidential Preference Primary Election (All advance ballots by mail must be received by close of polls.) This is a one-time presidential preference primary. The Kansas Legislature would have approve through legislative action another presidential preference primary in four years.   2023 KSGOP Leadership Team Teamwork Makes the Dream Work The team that serves as your 2023 KSGOP Leadership is an amalgam of Kansas Republican Patriots who, for the most part, knew of each other before this adventure but hadn't served on a team with each other. I've come to know each of these folks much better in 2023 and learned what each does best! I'm so proud of this team. Here are some thoughts on each of these amazing Kansas Republicans: Cheryl Reynolds KSGOP Vice Chairman She is our repository of institutional knowledge and she has been a fixture in the KSGOP for a very long time. Cheryl is always busy. We couldn’t have gotten our feet under us without Cheryl and I will be forever grateful for her contributions, involvement and input. Alan Townsend KSGOP Treasurer Alan has business experience, amazing business acumen, and delivers it with a smooth and calm dose of Kansas common sense. As businessmen, Alan and I speak the same language and I rely heavily on his input, counsel and guidance. Tess Anderson KSGOP Secretary I met Tess in 2022 under a really funny set of circumstances involving my dress shoe sole coming off at a meeting in Hutchinson where she invited me to be speaker, which later got named “SoleFest”. I saw her quick wit and keen sense of humor right away and then soon came to know her as a Kansas-connector and having a great attention to detail. I have a lifelong friend and ally in Tess, and she has the same in me. Dakotah Parshall KSGOP Executive Director The one-man-everything-guy! Dakotah is smart, witty, and compassionate and he too is a fighter. He makes the KSGOP run day to day mostly on his own and his knowledge of Kansas political history and the technology side of the KSGOP is invaluable. It is because of his diligence we now have and utilize the premier campaign data management tool, Numinar. Dakotah is a peacekeeper and is a perfect balance for me and I believe that sentiment to be true in return. Dakotah has a beautiful growing family, endless energy, and an amazing future in front of him. I've brought on hundreds of great employees over the years, but Dakotah is by far my best hiring decision yet! Marty Bohannon, Office Manager KSGOP Business and Communications Marty is the voice of the KSGOP. She answers the phone when you call and she continually calls and communicates with delegates and alternates to “take the temperature” of the State Committee, to share important information, and to simply help folks get the information they need. Marty is always friendly and bubbly, and does an amazing job making the KSGOP look - and sound - good! Linda Highland, Chairman KSGOP Resolutions Committee Linda is a passionate and driven personality, which makes my heart sing! She is unafraid to advance and defend what she knows is right and does so with a beautiful smile on her face and with soft words that can cut like a knife. It is a pleasure to work on a team with Linda! Dr. Robin Jackson, Chairman KSGOP Platform Committee Robin is an absolute treasure. She is super intelligent, calm, and always watching and recalculating. She is, after all, a professional chemistry and mathematics professor which uniquely qualifies her as perfect to lead the Platform Committee. The KSGOP Platform is perpetually a work-in-process which makes Robin perfect to tweak the formula that makes the KSGOP what it is - and what it is going to be in the future. Bryant Anderson, Chairman KSGOP Rule Committee I met Bryant at the same 2022 meeting where I met his wife, Tess, in Hutchinson at the “SoleFest”. Bryant is ready to do what he believes is right. This introspection and self-analysis makes the KSGOP stronger, and is exactly why I wanted Bryant in this role. Christopher McGowne, Counselor KSGOP Legal Chris has been an invaluable asset to me and the KSGOP. His deep knowledge in both the legal space and the political world make him a highly valued partner in the business of KSGOP. His common sense, reasonable approach, thoughtful commentary, and broad understanding of the law has provided a strong and consistent sounding board for KSGOP when necessary. Chris is an accomplished lawyer, trusted advisor, and most import to me, he has become a lifelong friend.     Final Thoughts to the Republican Party Concerning Education By Linda Highland This is the last in a series of articles taken from my testimony to the Kansas State Board of Education concerning Social Emotional Learning (SEL) when I delivered the Republican Resolution to the KSBE. I wish to thank Chairman Mike Brown for allowing me to write to you in the Friday File. It is my prayer that you have arrived at the same conclusions as I have. After years spent researching what has happened to education in America, I concluded schools are controlled by executive orders of presidents and governors implementing federal mandates, and by wealthy foundations and NGOs who can sell their ideologies to boards of education. We have arrived at a time when our children must be protected FROM all our tax dollars of, on average, over $17,000 per pupil to be educated in Kansas’ fully funded public schools. In many public schools the money is wasted on SEL curriculums, grooming children to be transgender, pornographic books pushed into student’s hands, data collected through surveys and platforms designed to condition the minds of children, and much more. School board members are at times harassed into submission to the point of recognition. Many of you have written to me, and out of those suggestions and my own thoughts I have put together a list of action steps. What can be done? 1. Find ways to leave the public schools if possible. Many options are available. Work to establish more private schools. Legislate changes to the Kansas charter school guidelines so that local school boards are not in control. 2. Inform your school district in writing what parts of the school day your child will not partake. 3. Bring legislation to expand the Tax Credit Scholarship legislation to grant scholarships also to all those students with low proficiency scores in Math, ELA, or Science. The administration of the program must move to the state Treasurers office, not the KSDE. This scholarship is private funds given from ordinary citizens to help students achieve their potential. 4. Legislation must pass to end transgender interventions and mutilating surgeries on minors in Kansas. 12 House members and 3 Senators voted against such legislation last year and because of this the Governor’s veto was not overridden to make Kansas the 24th state to give children protection. 5. The word ”nonacademic” must be stricken from the 2022 Student Data Privacy legislation. This prevented the SEL curriculum from being shown to parents for their informed consent and written approval. 6. Based upon the 2014 Biometric Data legislation and federal definitions of biometrics, schools who are questioning students’ behavioral attitudes, values, and beliefs through the SEL curriculum, surveys, and questionnaires are in possible violation of this state statute. 7. It is time for our churches to take an active role in speaking up, opening more schools, offering federally approved release time religious training during the school day as a substitute for SEL, and financially supporting students who wish to attend religious private schools. Our youth have become our mission field. Helping our children to achieve to their God given potential should be the goal of every Kansas. Please join the cause to make it happen! God bless you and yours this beloved Christmas season. Linda Highland Seeking Truth, Goodness, and Beauty (Philippians 4:8-10)         Conservatively Speaking by KSGOP Chairman Mike Brown No Medicaid Expansion in Kansas Mike Brown as a County Commissioner addressing the question of adding Medicaid Expansion to the Johnson County Government Legislative Agenda.   Below, in italics, is the text from my Facebook post on October 19, 2019. I was right over four years ago, and I am right now; there should be no Medicaid Expansion in Kansas. The reasons for my rock-solid position against Medicaid Expansion are: 1. there is no defined sunset of the program 2. there is no guarantee the feds will fund this program in perpetuity, which would then make it a perpetual Kansas obligation by default 3. it will crush rural hospitals (contrary to what our Governor says) because of increased patient volume and low-value-defined Medicaid reimbursement rates 4. The governor’s nonsense line “it pays for itself” is an outright lie. 5. the people of Kansas are TAXED OUT. If the Governor wants Medicaid Expansion, she must show how it can be funded from within the current budget without a tax increase. She should consider cuts to the bloated subsidies to K-12 and university education, claw back the $1.5B she gave to Panasonic for the battery factory in De Soto, or try putting it to a vote of the Kansas people. And if she does come back with one or more of those solutions, the legislature should cut that amount of funding for that line item because the Governor will have just told us it isn't needed or necessary. There is no such thing as free money, and nothing is more permanent than a temporary government program. Defend the Citizens. Cut taxes. Create jobs. Provide services the private sector does not / can not provide. Get the hell out of the way. That's pretty simple. From Facebook Post Since long before I was elected a Commissioner, l've watched and listened to different levels of government (federal, state, county and cities, among others) talk about tax money collections as "theirs" or "ours" but it was always obvious to me that every penny of every dollar is YOURS - not theirs or ours. For over a year now l've listened to folks talk about their reasoning for Medicaid Expansion in Kansas and why we as Johnson County should push the state to accept the federal money. And the reasoning is always the same, "because it's free federal dollars". Again there is no such thing as free or theirs or ours... those dollars are YOURS. The fallacy being attempted by proponents of Medicaid Expansion is they NEVER discuss what happens if/when the Federal dollars stop flowing. I will remind you there is no such thing more permanent than a temporary government program. Have a listen to what I told my fellow Commissioners on the topic of Medicaid Expansion... and focus your attention because there is NO SUCH THING AS FREE. #Big6th #NothingIsFree #ItsYourMoney #NoKansasMedicaidExpansion #SmokeAndMirrors     MEMBERSHIP DRIVE UNDERWAY Join the 1776 Club Now As a Card-Carrying Kansas Republican Patriot, You Qualify to Receive Amazing Benefits of Membership! Save The Date March 19, 2024 Kansas Presidential Preference Primary     Meet the Candidates KSGOP National Committeeman and Committewoman     Dr. Mark Steffen My life has been a series of events preparing me for these times. Husband, father, physician, farmer, oil & gas producer, general contractor: my specialty has been tackling new challenges head on, and with God’s grace…. successfully. In the spirit of servant leadership, I ask for your support for Kansas Republican Party National Committeeman. As an elected County precinct committeeman, District Delegate, State Delegate, and Kansas State Senator, I have led the grassroots’ charge back to the CONSTITUTION, our FREEDOMS, and the TRUTH. I pledge to promote our Kansas Republican Party Platform unapologetically from “Sea to Shining Sea”. UNITY is ultimately found within our values and principles, it’s also where success resides and where a true “Red Wave” begins. The RNC struggles to define what they stand for as their thinking is frequently usurped by big-money donors committed to their selfish interests. Endorsements: the approval I seek is from WE THE PEOPLE, while they are rarely famous, they are Kansas’ greatest asset. My heart and soul are firmly planted in the Kansas Grassroots. A vote for me will be a vote for a Republican revival, a resurgence. I WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!! See my resume at SteffenForKansas.com. Facebook: Dr. Mark Steffen. Cell: 620-802-1188     MARK KAHRS Helping elect solid conservatives to office and advancing the America First agenda has been a lifelong endeavor for me. My most valued political experience is what I've gained as a grassroots activist working with conservatives to elect Republicans. I've served as: Precinct committeeman Field Director for Todd Tiahrt for Congress Kansas GOP State Committee Delegate Sedgwick County Republican Central Committee Chairman Kansas Fourth District Republican Treasurer Kansas Fourth District Chairman Kansas State Representative Vice Chair of the Kansas Republican House Campaign Committee I’ve helped maintain a Republican majority in the Kansas House, fought to keep our Republican primaries closed, recruited conservatives to run for office, and raised money for candidates and conservative initiatives. As a member of the RNC, I am working to strengthen the integrity of our elections and to build conservative coalitions. It’s critical work I hope to continue. My decades of service to the Republican Party helped me earn the support of three of Kansas's Republican Congressional District Chairs – Laura Francis, Eric Rucker, and Debbie Luper. I hope to earn your support as well.     MARIA HOLIDAY I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Maria Holiday and I am currently the Chair of the Johnson County Republican Party. It is one of many roles I have held in Kansas politics. I was born in Wichita and raised in Ellinwood in Barton County. My family moved to Garden City when I was a sophomore. After high school, I graduated from St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City with a degree in education. My husband's job brought us to Johnson County in 1992. Doc and I have three grown children, four granddaughters, and a lab mix named Ebony. I believe the Republican Party has a winning platform. “We The People,” must pull together to defend our country. I have and will continue to fight for truth! We need leadership who is not timid about promoting our platform. As your National Committeewoman, I will have a vote for new National leadership in 2025. I will vote for a leader that will listen to the grassroots. We need an RNC that can create excitement and hope for the future. We need the RNC to support conservative ideals, project political strength, and win the big races across America and Kansas. “We The People” are desperately waiting for an RNC that is not afraid to take ACTION! In addition to being the Johnson County Chair, I have been the Chair for the Kansas Republican Assembly, the secretary for the 3rd Congressional District, a grassroots coordinator for Phill Kline, a campaign volunteer for multiple campaigns, a campaign manager, and a candidate for public office. I am a 2007 graduate of the Eisenhower Women in Leadership Series. I am unabashedly pro-life, and I have always supported Republican leadership. In my first year as Johnson County Chair, our JCRP team rebuilt our website and added a campaign toolkit for candidates. We have established messaging recommendations, created precinct committee persons recruitment and training committees, held candidate training, and remodeled our office so our 2 dozen local Republican groups have a home large enough to hold their meetings and events. We doubled fundraising this year over last and got a record number of Republicans out to vote in a local election. If you want a National Committee Woman who gets things done - I’m your girl. I care about our country. I care about saving it.     WENDY BINGESSER Wendy is currently serving as the Chair of the Third District Republican Party and previously served as the Chair of the Olathe Republican Party. She is a graduate of the Eisenhower Series and a member of the KFRW. In 2020, she personally knocked the entirety of four critical Kansas House districts and won them all. These wins allowed Republicans to keep their supermajority and deliver on key proposals. As a Johnson County Charter Commissioner, Wendy won a battle to keep the sheriff an elected office and blocked a radical proposal for a public health and safety governing board. Wendy is a mother, wife, K-State alumna, and proud Kansas conservative. Blessings, Wendy     Meet the Candidates Kansas College Republicans     Garrett Henson My name is Garrett Henson and I am from Valley Falls, KS. She was in love with his songs. Presley asked his manager to arrange bringing her to the stage to meet him - during the show. When the girl got on stage, Presley knelt in front of her saying, “I heard that you really like my songs, baby?” “Yes, sir. At the end of concert, Presley wrote a check to pay for the operation to restore that little girls vision. And now you know the rest of the story.     Runaway Semi on I-70 near Goodland, Kansas Cowboy Daredevils Save the Day I want to give a shout out to a couple of true heroes! An incident happened on I-70 on December 19, 2023, that led a NW Kansas farmer and his son to do extraordinary things to keep people safe in our county. A semi-truck driver traveling east on I-70, had a medical incident where he blacked out. His semi went into the median at highway speeds! Traveling in the median, it stayed between the traffic lanes for about a quarter of mile where it jumped over a crossover. This slowed the semi-truck down. The farmer and his son traveling in the same direction noticed the driver needing help, so they went into action. The semi-truck slowed down enough so they could jump onto the passenger’s side, but they found the door locked. The son riding on the semi-truck asked his dad to throw him a hammer. He then broke the window out, crawled into the semi-truck and stopped the semi-truck before it got to the overpass at exit 17. This action more than likely saved the life of the truck driver along with protecting all the other travelers on I-70 and Highway 27. It is amazing what people will do to help others they do not know. Thank you to Brent Ginther and his son Brady for your heroic actions. Our community is incredibly grateful!
