Greetings John,
COVID-19 is creating uncertainty throughout our state and Fresh Energy is striving to respond in a thoughtful and meaningful way. Below are a few updates from the Fresh Energy team. Please stay tuned to our blog ([link removed]) , Facebook ([link removed]) , and Twitter ([link removed]) as the situation develops.
* Utility Response Tracking: Fresh Energy has created a blog post dedicated to tracking Minnesota utility responses to COVID-19. We believe that all utilities should suspend customer disconnections, arrange payment plans, and extend cold weather rule protections during this unprecedented time. Fresh Energy is dedicated to tracking utility responses across the state and will link to them on this page. Read more. ([link removed])
* Events Moving Online: Fresh Energy staff are in the process of moving all public gatherings and partner meetings to a virtual platform. In the near term, Solarama Crush ([link removed]) scheduled for Thursday has gone virtual and our partner electric vehicle events with Jukka Kukkonen will also be moved online. Like many organizations, we’re figuring this out as we go. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
* Virtual Office: Fresh Energy has moved to a virtual office setting. It is a tangible way that the organization can support our employees in their health and family needs—and help our community, state, and country respond to COVID-19. We will continue to do our part to address systemic inequities in the arenas where we work and create an energy future that works for all. Read more. ([link removed])
* Leading in a Time of Disruption: Times of great disruption offer opportunities to rethink how things are done, and we’ll continue to look for ways to transform our energy system to one that’s carbon-free—and healthier and more equitable too. Fresh Energy is committed to a creating a clean energy economy in Minnesota that benefits all and will work to equitably advance clean energy in our state as the existing systems are scrutinized.
* Minnesota Needs Worker Support: As the Minnesota Department of Education develops further guidance regarding the Governor’s Executive Order, Fresh Energy believes that essential workers in the energy sector, including electrical line and gas pipeline workers, grid operators, customer service/call center staff, and the many others not listed here who keep our energy sector running, should be included in the group of Minnesota workers who are eligible to receive child care services while schools are closed.
Thank you,
Michael Noble and the Fresh Energy Team
