Hi ACLU Supporter – it's Chase Strangio with the ACLU. Over the past year, I've testified many times to defend transgender health care in states across the country.

As 2023 comes to a close, nearly half of the states in the country have banned gender-affirming care for transgender youth. This is devastating: As a trans person myself, I can tell you this care saved my life, and I'm certainly not alone. This care is evidence-based and only provided with the consent of parents and guardians. No young person should be denied this care, just because an elected official wants to use the trans community for political gain.

Looking ahead to 2024, I want to assure you that the ACLU remains relentless in the fight for trans justice and all of our civil liberties – no matter the obstacles ahead. One of the best ways to help us make progress in 2024 is by making a donation to help us reach our year-end goal today, which will be matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous donor. <[link removed]>

Even as the attacks against transgender and all LGBTQ people continue to mount, I refuse to get discouraged, ACLU Supporter. Our team at the ACLU remains steadfast in our mission to defend LGBTQ rights by:

* Protecting gender-affirming care: After successfully blocking trans healthcare bans in Arkansas, Indiana, and Montana, the ACLU is working in many more states across the country to stop similar bans from going into or remaining in effect.

* Defending the rights of trans youth in school: After blocking a ban on trans girls' participation in sports in Idaho, the ACLU also has pending cases in three other states that would overturn cruel sports bans preventing kids from playing with their peers.

* Defending drag performance: In June, the ACLU successfully got a court to overturn a city's drag ban in Utah, and the ACLU of Texas just successfully struck down a law that would have censored drag performances across the state.

While we confront these, and many other, efforts to attack us, the ACLU is also working to defend abortion rights, strike down racist voter suppression laws, protect free speech, and so much more.

None of these rights can wait, ACLU Supporter. That's why it's so important that the ACLU is fully funded heading into the new year.

So I'm asking you to join our fight for the rights of all people nationwide by making a donation today to help us reach our year-end goal. Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by an anonymous donor up until our deadline on 12/31. <[link removed]>
