John, I wish I had a better update to share with you, but you need to know this: 

We're just days away from our FINAL end-of-quarter fundraising deadline of the year, and we're projected to fall short of our $250,000 goal. Can you chip in now?

John, this end-of-quarter goal is not some arbitrary deadline or fundraising amount. My finance team carefully calculated where we need to be when the quarter ends this week and what we need to do to get there – and this fundraising campaign was a critical part of the plan.

Now, unless I see a last-minute surge of grassroots support, we may be facing some tough budget calls.

But, John, you have the power to change that. We still have a few days left before the quarter ends and some serious ground to make up. So I have to ask:
