John,

We want to take a moment to thank you for supporting Free Speech For People. With your help, we have made incredible strides to combat foreign influence in our elections, protect the right to vote, and continue our efforts to hold Trump and other insurrectionists accountable under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment.

But our work is far from over. Free Speech For People is leading the fight to defend the Constitution and reclaim our democracy, but we can’t do it without you. Will you show your support by making a contribution today?

Thanks to grassroots supporters like you, Free Speech For People has been able to rapidly deploy legal resources to stop voter intimidation and to ensure that every person has an equal voice and an equal vote in our democracy:

  • Building on our prior success in defeating voter intimidation efforts in Minnesota before the November 2020 presidential election, we are advancing a federal lawsuit in Colorado to challenge an extremist group from carrying out an armed voter intimidation campaign in the state. Our case has received support from the US Department of Justice. We have won a series of key procedural victories in this case, including defeating counterclaims made by the defendants in a brazen attempt to intimidate our clients from pursuing the case. Our case will proceed to trial in February 2024.

  • We succeeded in having a federal judge in Arizona strike down several discriminatory provisions of two recently enacted Arizona laws designed to suppress Arizonans’ freedom to vote in violation of federal law. This decision prevents Arizona from rejecting voter registration forms submitted without documentary proof of citizenship, which discriminates against Latinx citizens, and invalidates the requirement that applicants provide documentary proof of their residence when registering to vote, which disenfranchises Native Americans.

  • We argued our case in the U.S. District Court of San Antonio to overturn SB 1, a sweeping voter suppression law in Texas designed to suppress votes from Texans of color and other marginalized communities. The decision in this case is expected in the near future.

Our democracy will continue to face critical threats in the year ahead, and ongoing efforts to suppress voter turnout since 2020 will likely intensify. Challenges to eligibility under the Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause will take on greater importance as people prepare to cast their ballots.

We can’t predict what exactly 2024 will bring, but with your help, Free Speech For People will be prepared to meet it. Will you donate what you can today to support our fight for a democracy by and for we, the people?
