John,

Earlier this week Governor Reynolds announced that Iowa will not be participating this summer in federal programming that would provide free lunches to Iowa children when school is out.

During the 2022-2023 school year over 203,000 students were eligible for free or reduced-price lunches. The need for food assistance continues to grow across our state, so I don’t know why Republicans would even consider such a thing, let alone make it happen.

So I’ll keep this short—this is bullsh*t. Kids are the reason why I fight in the Senate. Iowa’s children deserve much better than Governor Reynolds and her Senate Republican-yes men are giving.

Saying that I’m fired up over this is an understatement. Clearly, Republicans will stop at nothing to appease special interest groups and shortchange everyday Iowans.

We NEED to break the Senate Republican supermajority. We will do this by re-electing senators like Sarah Trone Garriott and electing candidates like Matt Blake (SD22) and Nannette Griffin (SD50).

Breaking Senate Republicans up won’t be easy, but I know we can do it together.

I need 300 people to give $25 before January 1st—this will help me reach my end-of-the-year goal and keep/put more Democrats in the Senate to end this dumpster fire.

We’re all tired of the contempt that Republicans have for everyday Iowans, so let’s do something about it.

In solidarity,

Liz
