Is it possible to out MAGA a MAGA extremist? If you haven’t been tuned into what is happening in southern Illinois, that’s exactly what looks to be happening in the Republican primary for the 12th Congressional District.
The seat is currently held by Rep. Mike Bost – endorsed by Trump in his 2022 race – who is being challenged by former State Senator Darren Bailey – endorsed by Trump in his failed run for Governor.
Both of these candidates have been endorsed by Trump in the past, and both have signaled that they plan to highlight their MAGA records to win their primary. This race is going to be a question of who is more extremist – and that’s bad news for the people in IL-12.
It’s up to us to fight back against extremism, and that’s why we’ve set a $5,000 End of Year fundraising goal, so we have the resources to fight back against extremism at every level. If we don’t hit our goal, then we’re going to have to cut back on the organizing on behalf of our candidates and County Parties that we had planned for 2024. Can you make a contribution right now?
