Friends,

With so many things that we take for granted changing or closing in the wake of this public health crisis, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But we have a tremendous amount of power right now. According to the U.S. Surgeon General, “we are at a critical inflection point in this country.” If all of us work together, we can help save millions of lives.

The CDC tells us it’s essential we all engage in social distancing now in order to avoid a spike in hospitalizations that would surge past the capacity of our healthcare system. It’s possible to not feel sick or show any signs of sickness and still have the virus and transmit it to others. But by staying home and slowing the spread of the virus, we reduce the number of critical patients at one time, allowing our medical professionals to treat everyone instead of being overwhelmed.

Here are a couple things we can do now to help:
-Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly for at least 20 seconds
-Practice social distancing -- meaning avoid groups groups of more than 10, stay at home if at all possible, and if you are sick, quarantine yourself immediately
-Be kind to others -- we are all dealing with this, kindness and compassion can go a long way

We each have the power to help slow transmission, protect vulnerable populations, and lessen the burden on our already strained healthcare system. Please read here to learn more about preventing the spread of COVID-19: [link removed]

Together, I know we can beat the spread of this pandemic. Together, we can help protect those most at risk. Our communities are composed of the strongest people I’ve ever met, and I have full confidence that we will do everything in our power to stop this.

More to come as we learn more.

Thank you,
Grace
