** Dear MCN Supporter and Friend,
------------------------------------------------------------
2023 Year End Letter from our ED
On the last business day and Jummah (Friday) of 2023, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you. Your unwavering support and generosity have been crucial to the Muslim Community Network's success.
Our achievements this year are a testament to our incredible community, including external partner, mosque communities, fellows, workshop participants, and especially our volunteers. Your dedication and tireless efforts have been the lifeblood of our mission.
I extend a special thanks to our board for their guidance during our transition period, and to our team of coordinators, whose commitment to our cause is invaluable.
Despite challenges, we've made significant strides in serving our community. As we look forward, let us continue to pray for peace worldwide, especially in places like Gaza. Your continued support and actions for peace are more important than ever.
Thank you for being a vital part of MCN. Here's to another year of growth, impact, and unity.
Warm regards,
Husein Yatabarry
Executive Director

Our 2023 Impact
MCN Serves: Nourishing Communities Feeding hearts and souls! This year, MCN Serves reached new heights, distributing over 1500 hot meals, thousands of pounds of produce, and essential hygiene kits. A huge shoutout to Pranvera Mamudi for her exceptional coordination and to our volunteer family for their dedication. Special thanks to Fatima and our MYNYC youth for their amazing efforts in the kitchen during our last Soup Kitchen Saturday at Trinity Church!
Youth Programming: Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders Empowering the next generation! Our Youth Programming has been extraordinary, with one cohort completed and another in progress. We've successfully wrapped up our mental health initiative in collaboration with CACF and took an inspiring Peacemakers trip to the UK. Our youth are not just participating; they're leading the way in civic engagement across sectors. This programming is powered by Fatimah, our Youth Program Coordinator.
Women's Programming: Elevating Women's Voices Celebrating women in every sphere! With two complete programs, a Book Exchange Event, Women's Wellness Programs, Financial Literacy with Tabby and the CHASE Team and a vibrant Fall Festival, we’ve focused on uplifting and empowering women. Recognizing their crucial role as mothers, caregivers, and leaders, we strive to amplify their nurturing voices and advocate for their significant contributions to society. All of this women empowerment and more is due to our Women's Program coordinator, Musfika.
Civic Engagement: Amplifying Our Voice Making every vote count! This year, our Civic Engagement efforts have been groundbreaking. We've knocked on nearly 400 doors, registered new voters, and facilitated over 15,000 calls and votes. Through Immigrant Rights Workshops and Vote Education events, we've empowered diverse communities across boroughs to exercise their civic rights. Wali Ullah, our Civic Engagement coordinator is the whiz when it comes to showing our community access to the world of politics.
Advocacy: Building a Hate-Free Community Combatting hate with action! Our Advocacy program has been pivotal in addressing the rise in Islamophobia and other hate crimes. With outreach to thousands and workshops for nearly 400 participants, we're committed to eradicating hate and promoting diversity education in our schools and communities, ensuring a safer and more inclusive society for all. We have also pushed for religious diversity legislation and ceasefire legislation within our NYC Council. Our program Manager, AjiFanta has made advocacy her brainchild.
Outreach: Global Issues, Local Impact Fostering global connections for local impact! Under the leadership of our ED, Husein Yatabarry, we've expanded our outreach, forging essential relationships and advocating for the Muslim community in New York and beyond. Addressing the effects of global issues on our city, we're committed to being a voice for change and unity in these challenging times.
The Fuel: We can't go without mentioning our OPs, HR and Finance Manager, Nafisa, whose work behind the scene allows for everything to function. Our newest coordinator ,Arianna, has also hit the ground running and will be doing her finest work with advocacy and community outreach.
