John,
During this time of year, I always
take the time to reflect on the past twelve months – on our challenges
and our progress. My administration has been relentlessly focused on
public safety and the results are starting to show.
Thanks to our collective efforts
and the dedication of our law enforcement agencies, car
break-ins have decreased by a remarkable 50% in the last three months of 2023, compared
to the same time last year. This significant drop means that more
residents and visitors can enjoy our beautiful city without the
constant worry of their vehicles being targeted.
We have also witnessed a
significant reduction in retail theft, a problem that has been
plaguing our local businesses for far too long. A recent study by the
Council on Criminal Justice found that in the first six
months of 2023 San Francisco saw a 35% reduction in shoplifting – the
largest decrease in shoplifting of any city in the study from the previous year. And,
thefts over the Black Friday holiday weekend
dropped 75% from the previous year.
But our work is far from over,
there is more to be done to ensure the safety and well-being of every
resident and visitor to our city. Your
support is vital in continuing our fight
against crime, implementing innovative strategies, and supporting
community-based initiatives that foster a secure environment for
all.
I believe in the resilience of San
Francisco and know you do too.
As
we approach the end-of-year deadline, will you consider making a
donation to our campaign?
I need your support to continue our work to make every corner of San
Francisco safer.
In gratitude,
Mayor London Breed
