Nothing says holiday cheer quite like a snow day here in Northern Michigan, John. ⛄🌨️❄️

The other day, the ☀️ sun ☀️ came out at the right moment. The snow was falling, and my youngest daughter was playing with a friend.

My daughter told me they were looking for Narnia (an imaginary place from a book written by C. S. Lewis where there are talking animals, a snow queen, and, of course, a noble fight of good against evil). She would emerge, of course, victorious. So would the dog, who was given treats for “speaking.”

It didn’t matter that the powers against them were formidable. And, that they only had an afternoon to make right the great wrongs of the land. They believed they could, and they did.

As adults, it’s probably true that we spend too much time thinking about what can’t happen or what won’t happen. Not because those things can’t or won’t happen, but because … we’re tired. Maybe a little cynical. Or maybe because it is completely overwhelming.

But while my kid is out there looking for Narnia, I’m trying to channel that childhood instinct; I’m thinking of what is possible when we imagine a better future together and fight for each other.

And if we do that? The possibilities of a brighter future are within our reach because they are dependent on us, and we are doing the work to make it happen.

Will you join me in this fight for what’s possible? We’re up against our final end-of-quarter fundraising deadline of the year, and we need your support to help close this year and FEC quarter strong. Pitch in to support my campaign →
