Maine disqualifies Trump from presidential primary ballot, citing insurrection clause
It happened again! Yet another state has kicked Donald Trump off the primary ballot for inciting an insurrection on January 6th. It's clear that Trump has violated the 14th Amendment and unless the Supreme Court intervenes, the inevitability of Trump's nomination to the GOP presidential ticket is now shattered as he won't be able to compete in at least two states. One thing is for sure — he must never be allowed near the White House ever again.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Nikki Haley makes campaign-ending mistake
She tried to pander to the Trump crowd with a heinous show of white supremacist revisionism, and now she's paying the price.

Republicans salivate at the thought of stealing a battleground Senate seat
Bob Casey for Senate: Stung from their humiliating defeat in 2022, McConnell and his cronies have now set their sights on defeating Bob Casey and flipping the Senate back to red. Can you chip in to help re-elect Sen. Casey and protect our critical Senate majority?
Federal judge OKs new GOP-drawn congressional map in Georgia
The new maps for Georgia have finally been approved by an Obama-appointed judge, creating a new majority-black district in west Atlanta and redrawing the state legislative maps to ostensibly be more fair. However, civil rights activists level the same complaints against the new maps that they did against the old maps, arguing that the GOP-dominated legislature simply reshuffled Black voters and the maps were still a violation of the Voting Rights Act. It's a disappointing decision that just goes to show how hard it is to disrupt entrenched racial discrimination when Republicans control every level of a state's government.

Justice Department says new Texas immigration law violates Constitution
Literally anybody with a cursory knowledge of the Constitution could have told Gov. Greg Abbott and his cabinet of racist extremists that it is super unconstitutional to let cops arrest anybody who looks Hispanic under suspicion of being an undocumented migrant, but that's exactly what their new law does. And just as predictably, the Justice Department has threatened to sue the state of Texas unless they back down and stop enforcing it. It's terrifying to think that if Trump wins in 2024, Texas and the other GOP states can pass all the fascist, discriminatory laws they want with nobody to keep them in check.
Take Action: Don't let Republicans get away with taking credit for the Biden infrastructure plan they opposed!
Biden signs defense policy bill, extending controversial spying program
The staggering $886 billion NDAA has a few good things in it, like a 5% pay raise for the troops and the creation of programs to study the use of psychedelic drugs to treat PTSD, and a lot of bad things, like GOP's anti-"wokeness" rules, an extension of a program that allows warrantless spying on foreign nationals in the US, and of course hundreds of billions of dollars for weapons of war while one in five American kids gop hungry at night. Priorities, right?

Elon Musk's X fails to block California's content moderation law
The billionaire tech bozo was unsuccessful in his attempts to stop oversight of the way that his company moderates hate speech, which currently appears to be "we like it and it's good actually." That approach has led to advertisers fleeing from the platform in droves and a 55% drop in revenue for the struggling social media company. But hey, when your biggest priority is fishing for worship from the most annoying and spiteful chuds in the world, who cares about profit margins?

US officials describe "productive" meeting with Mexico as Biden feels pressure over migrant crisis
Feeling pressure from the right on immigration, the Biden administration is working closely with Mexico to try and stem the tide of immigrants heading to the United States. The State Department has proposed solutions like asking Mexico to move migrants south, controlling the railways used by migrants to move north, and providing incentives to not journey to the border — but nothing will stem the tide of immigrants until the root issues of the problem, like the hoarding of wealth in the West and the incessant flow of legally purchased weapons from America into South America, are dealt with.
40-foot-waves batter the California coast
Evacuations are under way and eight people have been hospitalized by the enormous waves, which are likely the last freak weather incidents to occur in a year full of them.
