As the year comes to a close, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and excitement for the strides we've made together in 2023. Your unwavering commitment to FairVote Minnesota has been the backbone of our success, and I am immensely grateful for your steadfast support.
And now, looking ahead to 2024, we aim to pass the RCV Local Options bill. This critical measure––which has the support of Secretary Simon, the League of Minnesota Cities, and the League of Women Voters––will authorize all local jurisdictions to adopt RCV if they wish and give more Minnesota communities the opportunity to experience its benefits. RCV eliminates local primaries, saving time and taxpayer dollars; increases voter turnout, and makes elections more inclusive, civil and representative.
The 2024 session is going to be short, and we’re going to need resources to prioritize and advance this important legislation. Expanding RCV to more communities across Minnesota is the best way to demonstrate its success and eventually bring RCV statewide. So as we move into the new year, we’re asking all of you to join us in giving the gift of democracy and recommitting to the movement.
