John, it's Fred Guttenberg with Brady. Our triple match closes in a few days but I noticed that you haven't taken a chance to triple your gift yet.

We've set an ambitious $200,000 match goal, and we'll only be able to hit it if top supporters like you step up before Sunday's midnight deadline. So please, will you donate now to help us take on the gun lobby and end gun violence? This match expires soon so rush your gift now!

I know you don't make your decisions on which organizations to support lightly. And I'm sure that there are plenty of emails like this one in your inbox this week. But please, will you give me a chance to share my story and explain why your gift is so important?

My daughter, Jaime, was only 14 years old when she was killed by a gunman at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Her life — a life full of love and joy and kindness and dance recitals and big dreams of becoming a pediatric nurse — was cut violently short that day. She died running down her school hallway in a spray of bullets.

My family and I will never get Jaime back. Those are wounds that will never heal. But we have made the choice to channel our grief and anger into action. I have dedicated my life to doing everything that I can to prevent other children and families from experiencing this horror.

There are simple lifesaving actions that would have saved my daughter's life. And every day that we fail to take action is another day that could end with one more community devastated by gun violence, more parents and families faced with unimaginable grief, and more children, just like Jaime, killed by weapons of war. With our current set of laws, the next mass shooting is not a possibility. It is a certainty.

Brady is fighting for a future where our leaders choose to protect children and families — not the gun lobby's profits. But if we fall short of this goal, we won't have the resources that we need to take on the gun lobby in 2024. That's why I'm personally asking: Please will you donate to triple your life-saving impact and win a future where the next mass shooting is not a certainty? Every gift truly makes an impact in this work.
