It’s hard to believe that 2023 is almost in the books, but here we are on the cusp of the new year. We had a busy and productive year here at ConservAmerica and are looking forward to what 2024 will bring. We finished the year with several compelling webinars on such topics as decarbonizing the freight transportation sector, benefits of competition in the electricity markets, and strategies for effective wildfire management. We continued our monthly gatherings of the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus (RCC), a bicameral group of lawmakers who are focused on advancing conservative solutions to our nation’s energy, environmental, and conservation challenges. Throughout the year, we worked with the RCC and others to inform, educate, and advocate on issues of concern. Here are several highlights:
Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (RAWA) – ConservAmerica has been collaborating with a broad-based coalition of conservation groups to provide additional resources for states, territories, and Tribes so that they can implement their Wildlife Action Plans and keep species from being listed under the Endangered Species Act. The cost savings to taxpayers and businesses of keeping species off the endangered or threatened lists, to say nothing of the benefits to the species themselves, is substantial.
Ocean Restoration and Development Act – ConservAmerica formed a bipartisan coalition to help advance a research and demonstration program that would close knowledge gaps around ocean restoration practices and demonstrate their benefits for mitigating climate change, restoring fisheries, and protecting marine mammals.
Good Samaritan Remediation – As part of our broader work on conservation and critical minerals development, ConservAmerica is working on policies to remove legal barriers and incentivize third parties to clean up pollution caused by abandoned mines.
In addition, our team continued to advance ConservAmerica’s mission through public comment letters in response to agency rulemaking, op-eds, coalition building, guest appearances, webinars, and reports. Our mission remains focused on offering conservative alternatives to big government policies that undermine markets, individual liberties, property rights, innovation, and economic growth and prosperity. We thank you all for your support this past year; we could not do this important work without you. We hope you all are enjoying this holiday season, and we wish you a safe and happy New Year. |
