As Chicago and the rest of the country have seen pet homelessness and euthanasia rise into a crisis in 2023, we have continued to step up for the suffering, the voiceless, the vulnerable animals who need us most.
This year, PAWS saved more thanĀ 4,500Ā dogs and cats, offering them refuge at their lowest point in life, loving and healing them until we unite them with the warmth of a home and family. We've alsoĀ performed more than 16,500 free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeriesĀ at ourĀ Lurie Spay/Neuter Clinic.
Addressing pet overpopulation at the source through spay/neuter surgeriesāand finding loving homes for the animals that are already hereāis how we work together to build a No Kill community and solve the homeless pet crisis.
This year, PAWS Chicago has transferred more than 2,000 cats and dogs directlyĀ from Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC), the city poundāfor many we were their last and only chance. We continue to be CACC's largest transfer partner, takingĀ urgent medical and surgical cases every day.Ā
And now weāre teaming up with The Rachael Ray Foundation to give more pets a Home for the Holidays with an extra $25,000 End of Year Challenge.Ā
Please show your love for homeless pets this holiday season with a gift matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000.Ā And donāt forgetāthe cutoff for 2023 tax-deductible donations is December 31.Ā
