What can we do for you? Take our 1-question survey to tell us how we can serve you best in the coming days and weeks.

John,

In so many ways, the last few weeks have turned our lives upside down.

Events are unfolding rapidly and this is a very scary and disruptive time. We here at EDF want to send you – and everyone who is part of our broad EDF family – our well-wishes and hope that you are staying healthy and safe.

As we think through how to remain engaged with you and our EDF community, we want to hear from you – how would you like to remain connected in the coming days and weeks?

We have set up a super-short, 1-question member survey for you to help us plan our engagements in these unnerving times:

With government officials and agencies properly focusing attention and resources on this immediate threat, it will be challenging to maintain focus on our key initiatives to combat climate change, support clean air and water protections and defend vulnerable wildlife and people.

Our staff remains committed to these priorities even as we adjust to working from home and taking care of our families and loved ones during these unsettling days.

I have been reminded of times in the past when we have had to balance our work with big, alarming global events. I joined EDF in January 2003 and two months later, America launched the war in Iraq. We all endured the global financial crisis that disrupted so many lives and livelihoods. And we’ve seen natural disasters like Hurricanes Katrina, Sandy and Maria, massive and deadly wildfires, tsunamis, earthquakes, devastating floods and so much more deliver unspeakable devastation to communities throughout the country and around the world.

Through these tragic and upending events, it has always brought so much comfort to our staff and to me personally to hear from you and our broader EDF family. And to know that we will remain unified in our dedication to protect our planet from environmental harm.

Finally, I’m listing below some of the other action steps we have taken as an organization to protect the health and well-being of our staff and partners.

Your response to our 1-question member survey will help guide our staff to make the best use of our time and resources in the weeks ahead:

One point we’d like to emphasize is that responding to your questions and processing your donations – particularly in the mail – may be a little slower than normal. We hope you understand – and as Director of Membership, I assure you we are doing all we can to stay active and responsive in spite of the disruptions.

Once again, I hope you’re staying safe and that we will all come through this crisis together. You’re in my thoughts and in the thoughts of the entire Membership Team.

In solidarity,
Sam Parry
Membership Director

=== Organizational update ====

As of March 16, we have taken the following actions to protect our staff and broader EDF community:

Suspended all in-person meetings and events
Suspended non-essential travel for our staff worldwide
Required our staff to work from home (with the exception of our staff in China, who are following the guidance of the national government)
Made arrangements to help ensure that our employees, including hourly employees, are able to continue their important work and care for their loved ones

We are also doing everything we can to minimize disruption to the important work we are pursuing together.

As always, we are committed to remaining connected to our partners and supporters to ensure that we continue to find the ways that work.
