News from Representative Allred

Dear John,

Serving the district where I was born and raised is the honor of a lifetime. I work each day in Congress to lower costs, create jobs, grow our economy, and make things better for all Texans. I am so proud of all we have accomplished this year, and will keep doing all I can to deliver for North Texas in the coming year.

I truly believe that Congress is at our best when we work together. This year, I was grateful to again find areas of common ground with both parties to deliver results for Texas.

Together, we brought three monumental investments to Texas: the ARPA-H biomedical hub, the Tech Hub at SMU, and the Hydrogen Hub in Houston. Establishing these three major hubs in Texas solidifies our state’s status as a leader in the industries of the future and bolsters our long-term economic success by creating tens of thousands of good jobs.

We continued to usher in investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law including upgrades to DFW Airport and the DART bus fleet, along with $1 million to move Texas passenger rail projects along. Thanks to the CHIPs and Science Act and Inflation Reduction Act, more manufacturers announced a move to Texas this year, bringing thousands more jobs to our region. And the Dallas VA broke ground on a new Long Term Care Spinal Cord Injury Center to care for local veterans, thanks to my bipartisan law.

In the fight to lower health care costs, we reached a major milestone: for the first time ever, Medicare was empowered to negotiate with Big Pharma and is currently in the process of lowering prices on the first group of ten medications that seniors rely on. This is a huge victory for folks on Medicare, made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act I helped pass. I will not stop fighting until we extend the savings to everyone.

I was also proud to keep fighting to ensure women in Texas have access to abortion. I cosponsored the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, to ensure Texas women have a right to travel, and the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe v. Wade into federal law.

I look forward to another productive year serving North Texas. I will continue the work to ensure all Texans get a fair shot at their version of the American Dream.

From my family to yours, have a safe and joyous new year!

Sincerely,
