Reason #2 to support Shamaine Daniels for Congress - Shamaine is a lifelong Democrat who is dedicated to our Democratic values.
As a member of the City Council, Shamaine has reflected our values by fighting for things like affordable housing, but her dedication to the issues we care about started long before she became an elected official.
Shamaine and her family immigrated to the United States when she was a child. She understands the pursuit of the American Dream because her family came to this country to do just that.
As an attorney focused on immigration and civil rights, Shamaine has fought for workers and those coming to the United States to pursue their American Dream. In fact, Shamaine was one of the lead attorneys in the famous case of Lozano v. City of Hazleton [[link removed]] , Where she successfully worked to overturn a law that would have infringed on the rights of thousands.
Beyond her career as a member of the City Council and an attorney, Shamaine has long supported the Dauphin County Democratic Party, the National Organization for Women (NOW), and the work of Planned Parenthood. Because of that work, NOW recently endorsed Shamaine’s campaign.
Shamaine cares deeply about the quality of life of the District’s residents, and has worked to improve the lives of families in PA-10 as a Board member of the Art Association of Harrisburg and supporter of the work of Pennsylvania CASA, which provides in-depth support for children in our juvenile system. Whether it was fighting for workers' and immigrant rights, protecting women’s ability to make their own healthcare decisions, or fighting to better the lives of the residents of Harrisburg and PA, Shamaine has led a life of public service.
